Rights

The United States is a country where people focus on individual rights. We have the right to free speech, to vote, to bear arms, etc. People protest, litigate, and pontificate about these things. So, choosing to sacrifice our rights for others doesn’t make sense to a lot of people. Personal comfort, goals, and desires supercede the greater good. As Christians, we are supposed to be different. We have the greatest example. Jesus had rights too. He had the divine authority to stop the process. He could have told God that the disciples were slackers. They couldn’t stay awake to pray, they asked dumb questions, they downplayed His miracles, etc. Yet, Jesus didn’t abort the mission. He was tortured and hung on the cross as a sacrifice for the sins of humanity. When you are dealing with something that tests your resolve, consider Jesus. If God has made that person or situation a part of your life then it has purpose. Let God reveal the greater purpose and do as Jesus did. Make the sacrifice. Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God; He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself -Jn 13:3-4 (KJV) Be encouraged,
